At UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals, every aspect of our pediatric Radiology Center is designed with children in mind. We use the most advanced imaging equipment available for ultrasound, X-ray, fluoroscopy, MRI, CT scan and other imaging techniques that help physicians diagnose and treat various conditions. Each machine is carefully calibrated to use the lowest doses of radiation possible to provide the highest-quality image.

Our radiologists, imaging technologists and nurses are pediatric specialists who understand the unique needs of children and know which imaging techniques are best to diagnose specific medical and surgical problems. If sedation or anesthesia is required for your child's study, we work with the sedation or anesthesia imaging team to make the experience as pleasant and safe as possible for you and your child.

Because children are often anxious about procedures, we also offer support from child life specialists who are skilled in ways to help reduce kids' worries and fears. We're one of only a small number of pediatric medical centers in the country to have this kind of service available.

Walk-ins for X-rays are available at all locations. MRI and ultrasound require appointments. Same-day appointments are often available for ultrasound. CT scans are only available in San Francisco and Oakland.
