Urology Clinic
U.S. News Best Hospitals

The pediatric urologists at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital are experts in the treatment of genital and urologic problems of children and adolescents, ranging from bed-wetting to serious birth defects.

We routinely perform outpatient surgery for genital conditions such as hypospadias, undescended testicles, hernias, and fluid-filled sacs called hydroceles.

In addition, we specialize in treating more complex conditions, such as inside-out bladder or exstrophy, characteristics of both genders called intersex, Wilms tumor and bladder rehabilitation.

Bladder augmentation, artificial sphincters and continent stomas can restore continence and preserve kidney function in children who would otherwise require dialysis or a kidney transplant.

Our pediatric urologists have pioneered procedures that allow formerly complex surgeries to be performed on an outpatient basis using minimally invasive techniques, involving tiny incisions.

Using the most advanced techniques, the surgical team can correct even severe penile deformities on an outpatient basis, reducing costs and stress on families and young patients. The team also specializes in treating patients who have had previous, unsuccessful surgeries.
