Intensive Care Nursery (ICN) Follow-Up Program
U.S. News Best Hospitals

The Intensive Care Nursery Follow-Up Program provides regular neurodevelopmental assessments for infants after their discharge from UCSF's Intensive Care Nursery (ICN). Specifically, we follow ICN graduates who are at increased risk for developmental delays due to a history of prematurity or critical illness at birth. Our goal is to help children reach their full potential through comprehensive care and early identification of any developmental disabilities.

The program provides parent support, early identification of developmental disabililties and referral for additional services if needed. We also serve as a liaison between community physicians and agencies involved with the child's care.

The Intensive Care Nursery Follow-Up Program team consists of neonatologists trained in developmental and behavioral pediatrics, a psychologist, a pediatric nurse practitioner, a nurse coordinator and a physical therapy consultant.

In addition to our clinic at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital San Francisco, we hold satellite clinics in Santa Rosa, Modesto, Marin, Fremont and Eureka for our patients' convenience.
