Infusion Center

The UCSF Pediatric Infusion Center provides a calm and friendly environment for children to receive intravenously delivered therapies such as blood transfusions and chemotherapy. We use advanced technology to deliver the highest quality care for patients with a range of conditions including cancer, hemophilia and other blood disorders or who may need a blood transfusion as part of their medical treatment. The Apheresis Program at the Infusion Center provides red blood cell exchanges for patients with sickle cell disease and performs stem cell collection for bone marrow transplant patients.

Every aspect of the Infusion Center was designed to create a welcoming and comfortable setting for kids. The physical space is geared to children. Our nursing staff is completely pediatric-focused and experienced in caring for children. So are the pharmacists, who will help develop your child's treatment plan and determine the optimal dosage and timing of the therapy your child needs.

We understand the challenges young patients face, and we offer several resources to provide age-appropriate emotional support, including a play area stocked with toys, books and art supplies, along with visits from child life specialists who can support and engage your child during treatment. Our San Francisco location offers private rooms for immune-compromised patients who need to be isolated.

Our staff is available to answer questions, address concerns and provide support throughout the entire process so your child receives the very best care.
