Infusion Center
UCSF's pediatric Infusion Center provides a calm and friendly environment where children with chronic illness such as hemophilia, sickle cell disease and cancer get the blood transfusions, chemotherapy or other transfused or infused therapies they need. The Apheresis Program at the Infusion Center offers red blood cell exchanges for patients with sickle cell disease and stem cell collection for bone marrow transplant patients.
From the specialized staff and approach to care to the physical space, every aspect of the Infusion Center was designed with kids in mind. Our nursing staff is completely pediatric-focused and experienced in caring for children. So are the pharmacists, who will help develop your child's treatment plan and determine the optimal dosage and timing of the therapy your child needs.
We understand the challenges young patients face, and we offer several resources to provide age-appropriate emotional support in a welcoming and comfortable setting, including a play area stocked with toys, books and art supplies, and visits from child life specialists to support and engage your child during treatment. In our San Francisco location we offer private rooms for immune-compromised patients who need to be isolated.
