Parent Sleeping Accommodations

At UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital San Francisco, we support and encourage parents to stay with their child. All patient rooms have a dedicated "family area" equipped with an extendable sleeper sofa as well as locking storage cabinets. Because space is limited, please plan for only one parent to stay overnight in the hospital.

Family lounges are located on each floor, with refrigerators for your use. Please label all items with your last name and first initial, as well as the date it was stored.

Showers and laundry facilities are available for families throughout the hospital. Please plan to bring your personal toiletries from home. If you need additional toiletries, visit the Center for Families.

Short-Term Housing

If your child is in the hospital for more than a few days, our family resource coordinator will assist you with finding housing. There is a Ronald McDonald House on-site, with accommodations for 11 families, laundry facilities and a fully-equipped kitchen. The new Nancy and Stephen Grand Family House at Mission Bay is slated to open soon, just a few blocks from the hospital.

Local hotels, motels and short-term apartment rentals are also options. For more information, see the UCSF Housing Office's listings of short-term housing.

Food Services

Room service meals are available for parents and visitors at a nominal fee. There are also cafeterias, cafés and other retail food options at all UCSF campuses. For more information, see food services.
