PlaySafe is an outreach program of the UCSF Sports Medicine Center that provides care for student-athletes in high schools around the Bay Area. We created the program after learning about serious injuries and even deaths in young athletes that could have been prevented with appropriate medical care.

Through PlaySafe, public high schools have access to Sports Medicine Center experts who are qualified to determine when an athlete should play or be withheld from competition. These include physicians and certified athletic trainers.
