Pediatric endocrinologist
Researcher-mom still dreaming of a life in musical theater
Dr. Jenise Wong is a pediatric endocrinologist who specializes in caring for children with type 1 and type 2 diabetes. She also has expertise in caring for children with a wide range of other endocrine disorders, including those involving growth, puberty, and the thyroid and adrenal glands.
Wong's research aims to understand the impact of new technologies – such as insulin pumps, continuous glucose monitoring devices, and mobile phone and internet applications – on patients' abilities to self-manage type 1 diabetes and on their health. She wants to create innovative ways to make information from diabetes devices more accessible and useful to patients, their caregivers and their health care providers.
Wong earned a doctoral degree in genetics from Harvard University and her medical degree from Stanford University School of Medicine. She completed a residency in pediatrics at Boston Children's Hospital and Boston Medical Center. She then completed a fellowship in pediatric endocrinology as well as postdoctoral research at UCSF, where she is pursuing a master of advanced study degree in clinical research. She has received a research fellowship award from the Pediatric Endocrine Society and a research grant from Genentech.
