Hypertonicity Clinic
The Pediatric Hypertonicity Clinic is dedicated to providing comprehensive care for children with hypertonia – a condition involving increased muscle stiffness and difficulty moving that develops from a variety of neurological and musculoskeletal conditions. While many of our patients have cerebral palsy, we also care for children affected by other disorders that lead to muscle symptoms such as spasticity, dystonia and rigidity. Our goal is to improve the mobility, function and quality of life for children living with hypertonia by reducing muscle tightness and enhancing movement through personalized care based on the latest research.
We are proud to be one of the only pediatric centers in the region providing specialized care for hypertonicity. Our clinic brings together experts from many specialties, including pediatric physical medicine and rehabilitation, neurology, neurosurgery, orthopedics, orthotics and prosthetics, and plastic surgery. By collaborating across disciplines, we create individualized care plans that address the complex, individual needs of each child and family.
