Neonatologist

Dr. Spencer L. Magargal is a neonatologist who cares for infants who are critically ill. He has a special interest in the care of extremely premature infants, transport medicine and extra corporeal membrane oxygenation (also known as ECMO, which involves using a mechanical heart and lungs to maintain organ function). He coordinates care across specialties and serves as a senior physician on the ECMO/ECLS team.

Magargal earned his medical degree at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Marnix E. Heersink School of Medicine. He completed a residency in pediatrics at Virginia Commonwealth University, followed by a fellowship in neonatology at UCSD, where he also served as chief fellow.
