Dr. Mary Prahl is a specialist who cares for children with all types of infectious diseases, including ones that are present at birth, affect the bones and joints, develop while traveling or occur in immunocompromised individuals.

Prahl's research evaluates how the immune system responds to infectious diseases during early childhood and pregnancy. Her goal is to develop new strategies to prevent disease. 

Prahl earned her medical degree at the University of Minnesota Medical School. She completed a residency in pediatrics at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine’s Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. She completed a fellowship in pediatric infectious disease at UCSF.

Prahl is a member of the Infectious Diseases Society of America and American Academy of Pediatrics.

The guiding focus of my work is to prevent severe infectious diseases during early childhood by identifying how the immune system protects itself and applying these findings to public health and global health challenges.
