Pediatric infectious disease specialist

Dr. Mary Prahl is a specialist who cares for children with all types of infectious diseases, including those that are present at birth, affect the bones and joints, develop as a consequence of travel, and occur in immunocompromised individuals.

Prahl's research evaluates immune responses to malaria during pregnancy and early childhood, with the goal of developing new disease-prevention strategies in settings with limited resources.

Prahl earned her medical degree at the University of Minnesota Medical School. She completed a residency in pediatrics at Northwestern University and the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. She completed a fellowship in pediatric infectious disease at UCSF.

Prahl is a member of the Infectious Diseases Society of America and American Academy of Pediatrics.
