Dr. Willieford Moses is a pediatric surgeon who specializes in the multidisciplinary care of children receiving surgery as part of cancer treatment. His professional interests include managing the care of patients with complex congenital anomalies (disorders present at birth) as well as global health and treatment of traumatic injuries.

Moses' research focuses on pediatric health equity with regard to advanced medical devices. He studies innovative advancements in diagnostics and therapeutics that can enable doctors to improve health outcomes for children, both locally and globally. He specifically aims to develop therapeutic tools and instruments that work in resource-constrained settings, whether for use by care providers in the operating room or clinic, or by parents managing complex medical issues at home.

Moses earned his medical degree and completed a residency in general surgery at UCSF. During that time he also completed a fellowship in surgical innovations. He then completed a fellowship in pediatric surgery at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles prior to returning to UCSF.
