Anuradha Banerjee

Dr. Anuradha Banerjee is a pediatrician with specialty training in pediatric hematology and oncology (blood cancers and other blood disorders). Her expertise encompasses brain tumors. She is also trained in pediatric palliative care.

Banerjee is an epidemiologist, a specialist who studies the causes and characteristics of disease. Her research focuses on the role of molecular predictors of clinical behavior in childhood leukemia and pneumococcal vaccination in children undergoing chemotherapy. She also works on clinical trials (studies to evaluate promising new treatments) with the Pediatric Brain Tumor Consortium, a multicenter research project of the National Cancer Institute.

Banerjee earned her medical degree and a master of public health degree in epidemiology at Tulane University. At UCSF, she completed a residency in pediatrics, a fellowship in pediatric hematology and oncology, and training in pediatric palliative care. She joined UCSF's neurological surgery department in 2001.
