Tara Rooney, MA

Speech language pathologist

Tara Rooney is a licensed speech language pathologist who treats autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and neurodevelopmental disorders.

She received her bachelor's degree in in psychology from Santa Clara University and master's in speech language pathology from Northwestern University. She has worked in hospital, school and private practice settings and has experience as a clinical supervisor as well as advanced training in the Hanen Centre's, It Takes to Two Talk program. Prior to joining UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital San Francisco, Rooney worked at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford and the Children's Health Council. She was selected as a Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND) Fellow at Boston Children's Hospital while working in the Early Intervention Department. Her clinical interests include investigating best practices in parent education, community health and siblings with neurodevelopmental disabilities. She is a member of the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA), ASHA's Language Learning and Education Special Interest Group and the California Speech and Hearing Association.
