Sonny Tat, MPH, MD

Pediatric emergency care physician

Dr. Sonny Tat is a pediatric emergency medicine specialist at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital. He is on the board of directors of PEMNetwork, a national network of pediatric emergency physicians dedicated to innovative methods of medical education.

Tat earned his medical degree at the University of Washington. He completed his pediatrics residency and chief residency at UCSF. He then completed a fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at Children's National Health System in Washington, D.C., where he won an award for resident education. Tat returned to UCSF to join the pediatric emergency medicine faculty as an assistant clinical professor.

Tat is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, American College of Emergency Physicians and Society for Academic Emergency Medicine. His research interests include technology in medical education, patient safety and clinical decision making.
