Dr. Zachary Hutchinson is a pediatric cardiologist who cares for children with complex heart conditions. His expertise includes treating cardiomyopathy (weakening or thickening of the heart muscle, making it harder to pump blood), mechanical circulatory support (devices that help the heart function) and heart transplantation. His goal is to be a friendly and down-to-earth source of support for families throughout the ups and downs of having a heart condition.
Hutchinson's research has focused on using echocardiography (heart ultrasound) to screen for potentially serious heart conditions such as pulmonary hypertension (high blood pressure in the lungs) or weakening of the heart muscle. He also studies health outcomes for patients at risk of heart transplant rejection and has a strong interest in medical education and mentorship for pediatrics trainees.
Hutchinson earned his medical degree at Penn State College of Medicine. He completed a residency in pediatrics at Oregon Health & Science University. He also completed a fellowship in pediatric cardiology at UCSF and a fellowship in pediatric heart failure, mechanical circulatory support and heart transplantation at Seattle Children's Hospital.
Outside of the clinic, Hutchinson enjoys tennis, downhill skiing and hiking.
