Dr. Victoria Chu is a pediatric infectious disease specialist who cares for hospitalized children with serious or complex infections. She has a special interest in using advanced diagnostics to detect infections and serves as an associate medical director of UCSF's program in epidemiology and infection prevention, working to protect patients from acquiring infections in the health care setting.

In her research, Chu studies how germs spread between hospitalized patients and how germs become resistant to antibiotics. Her goals are to protect against infections in the hospital and to prevent the spread of antibiotic resistance.

Chu earned her medical degree from UCSF. She completed a residency in pediatrics at Kaiser Permanente Oakland and a fellowship in pediatric infectious diseases at UCSF. She has a master's degree in public health from the University of California, Berkeley. She also spent two years at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the Epidemic Intelligence Service.
