Susan Bessler is a dietitian who specializes in identifying and addressing nutritional challenges in children and young adults with Rett syndrome and related conditions. She has expertise in digestive motility issues, chewing and swallowing difficulties, excess or insufficient weight or growth, and fractures related to low bone density. She also provides nutritional guidance to support life-cycle stages, with the ultimate goal of ensuring that food and feeding are positive, family-oriented experiences.

Bessler has a bachelor's degree in dietetics from the University of California, Davis. She earned a master's degree in clinical nutrition at the University of Alabama, where she also completed a fellowship in pediatric nutrition with a focus on developmental and learning disorders. She is a certified nutrition support clinician.

After 30 years of working with children and families with special health needs, I still find this specialty interesting and relevant. I love my work!
