Sujatha Seetharaman

Dr. Sujatha Seetharaman is a pediatric endocrinologist who cares for children and adolescents with a wide range of hormonal and metabolic conditions. These include thyroid disorders, adrenal disorders, growth disorders, and diabetes. She also offers consultations for managing obesity, including pre- and postoperative care for patients undergoing bariatric procedures (weight-loss surgery). She is deeply committed to providing high-quality care to all patients and is driven to advance the field through research, education and advocacy

Seetharaman's research focuses on improving treatment outcomes for type 2 diabetes and obesity across all age groups, with a particular emphasis on adolescents and young adults. She studies the effects of new therapies like GLP-1 agonists and how to integrate these innovative approaches into clinical care. She seeks to identify the underlying causes and mechanisms of type 2 diabetes, with the goal of improving current treatment strategies and designing effective prevention methods to combat the disease's rising prevalence.

A key aspect of Seetharaman's work is investigating the intricate hormonal and body composition changes associated with weight changes, including how these factors influence the onset and management of diabetes and obesity. Her goal is to provide more personalized, long-term solutions for patients navigating these complex conditions.

Seetharaman earned her medical degree at Kasturba Medical College, Manipal in India and completed a residency in pediatrics at Nassau University Medical Center. She completed multiple fellowships, training in adolescent medicine at Stanford University and Johns Hopkins University, obesity medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital, and pediatric endocrinology at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and UCSF. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Outside of work, Seetharaman is always up for breaking a sweat – whether at the gym, on the dance floor, or just when trying to keep up with life's wild choreography.
