Pediatric nurse practitioner
Hiking and nature enthusiast, artist and foodie
Sophia Chao is a pediatric nurse practitioner who cares for children receiving bone marrow transplants. Her patient care is informed by her own experience as a survivor of Wilm's tumor, a kidney cancer that mainly affects children. She loves nursing for the genuine human connections she makes with patients and the chance to help them discover their purpose.
Chao earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees in nursing at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing.
A native of San Jose, Chao moved back to the West Coast to be closer to family, including her younger sister – who is her complete opposite. In her free time, she enjoys exploring nature, writing, painting, sculpting, and eating new and favorite foods.
