Pediatric nurse practitioner
Mystery novel aficionado and gardener who loves lavender

Mary Lesh is a pediatric nurse practitioner who specializes in caring for patients with blood diseases. Her expertise includes treating bleeding disorders, conditions in which blood doesn’t clot properly.

Lesh's research focuses on improving care for bleeding disorders. She works with researchers in other specialties, including physical therapy and radiology, to explore ways to use ultrasound on the musculoskeletal system in the diagnosis of bleeding events. She also educates and mentors her nursing colleagues on care for patients with bleeding disorders.

Lesh earned her master's degree in nursing at UCSF, training to become a certified pediatric nurse practitioner. Prior to UCSF, she worked within the federal network of hemophilia treatment centers.

Lesh has chaired the National Hemophilia Foundation's Nursing Working Group and currently serves as the nurse practitioner co-lead of a nursing work group for the Western States Regional Hemophilia Network. She is a member of the Hemostasis and Thrombosis Research Society’s planning committee. In 2022, she received the UCSF Advanced Practice Nursing Award.
