Pronouns: She | Her | Hers

Dr. Martha Elster is a pediatric hospitalist. She cares for infants and children hospitalized for a wide range of severe and chronic illnesses, and also provides care in the newborn nursery.

Elster is passionate about educating the next generation of health care professionals, and she champions a ""teach the teachers"" approach in faculty development. Subjects of her research include how care providers develop careers as educators and the burnout experienced by both doctors and trainees.

Elster earned her medical degree from Wake Forest School of Medicine. She completed a residency in pediatrics at Kaiser Permanente Oakland Medical Center, where she served as chief resident.

In her free time, Elster enjoys being outdoors with her family, trying new recipes and playing board games.
