The first open fetal surgery in the world was performed at UCSF in the early 1980s.

Leone Baron is a physical therapist who cares for patients with sports injuries or other concerns related to athletic performance. She identifies strength and mobility issues that could be contributing to a diagnosed condition and then works with the individual on making improvements. She has special interests in strength and conditioning as well as in helping young athletes return to playing their sports.
After earning her bachelor's degree in exercise biology at the University of California, Davis, Baron earned her doctor of physical therapy degree from Samuel Merritt University. She completed a residency in sports physical therapy at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland.
