Dr. Kensho Iwanaga is a specialist in pediatric pulmonology who cares for infants, children and adolescents with acute and chronic respiratory conditions, including asthma, cystic fibrosis and bronchopulmonary dysplasia (a lung condition most common in premature newborns that can lead to chronic breathing problems).

Iwanaga's research focuses on understanding the interactions between air pollution and pediatric respiratory health and development.

Iwanaga is a Bay Area native. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of California, Berkeley and earned his medical degree at the University of California, Irvine. He completed a residency in pediatrics at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland, followed by a fellowship in pediatric pulmonology at Seattle Children's Hospital. During his fellowship, he earned a master's degree in epidemiology from the University of Washington School of Public Health.
