Avid road-tripper and beach enthusiast

Jessica Lightcap is a clinical nurse specialist who provides advanced nursing care for pediatric patients with musculoskeletal conditions. Her special interests include children with sports-related injuries, traumatic injuries (those caused by an event, such as a car accident) and spinal injuries, as well as babies born with clubfoot. She enjoys partnering with families to help them become confident about caring for their child's condition or meeting their child's recovery needs following surgery.

Lightcap earned her master's degree in nursing at Johns Hopkins University. She has additional training in critical care nursing for pediatric patients.

In addition to patient care, Lightcap develops orthopedic programs, educational materials for patients and families, and staff education initiatives aimed at boosting patient safety and quality of care. She enjoys working as part of a care team to improve the experience for orthopedic surgery patients on the road to recovery.

As a former competitive gymnast and soccer player, Lightcap has great empathy for athletes who are sidelined from their sports by injury.

It’s a privilege to help patients reach their highest levels of function or return to their favorite physical activities after an unexpected injury.
