Jenifer Matthews

Dr. Jenifer Matthews is a pediatrician who cares for patients from birth through early adulthood. With expertise in integrative medicine, she takes a holistic approach to patient care using modalities such as mind-body medicine (techniques that draw on the mind's ability to improve physical health), dietary supplements and pediatric acupuncture, as well as medications. She has a special interest in caring for kids and teens who need support to cope with anxiety, depression or chronic pain.

In her research, Matthews studies how best to implement pediatric acupuncture and integrative medicine in caring for children who are underserved by traditional and complementary medical systems. Her overall goal is to provide improved access to integrative health services for all children.

Matthews earned her medical degree at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine. She completed a residency in pediatrics at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland. She also completed the Integrative Medicine Scholars Program at the UCSF Osher Center for Integrative Health.
