Pediatric hematologist-oncologist
Sarcoma investigator, travel enthusiast and devoted cat mom

Dr. Elizabeth Young, who goes by Betsy, is a pediatric hematologist-oncologist who cares for children with cancer. She specializes in treating solid tumors, including sarcomas, a type of cancer that originates in bone or soft tissue.

In research, Young studies ways to improve immunotherapy for osteosarcoma, an aggressive bone cancer. She focuses on harnessing osteosarcoma's capacity to activate the immune system and developing research models that illuminate the relationship between pediatric sarcomas and the immune system.

Young earned her medical degree at Weill Cornell Medicine Medical College. She completed a residency in pediatrics at Texas Children's Hospital, followed by a fellowship in pediatric hematology-oncology at UCSF.

A certified Spanish-speaking provider, Young enjoys working with Spanish-speaking patients and families. She greatly values the diversity of UCSF's patient population. In her free time, she enjoys being outdoors with family, traveling and practicing yoga.
