Pediatric endocrinologist
Diabetes specialist and translational researcher
Dr. Srinath Sanda is a pediatric endocrinologist who cares for infants, children and young adults with diabetes and other endocrine disorders, particularly those stemming from autoimmune disease. He is particularly interested in helping patients and their families understand the conditions affecting them and helping them develop their own best strategies for care. He emphasizes providing information on the latest advances and clinical trials (studies using human volunteers to evaluate promising treatments).
Sanda's research focuses on the immune system's role and genetics of type 1 diabetes and cystic fibrosis-related diabetes. He is working to develop new biomarkers – substances in body fluids or tissues that reveal a process related to a condition – that will help predict and treat these diseases.
Sanda earned his medical degree from the University of California, Davis School of Medicine and completed residencies in internal medicine and pediatrics at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He completed a fellowship in pediatric endocrinology at the University of California, San Diego.
Sanda is a member of the Endocrine Society and Pediatric Endocrine Society.
