Dr. Margarita Berrios is a neonatologist who cares for high-risk infants, providing resuscitation, stabilization and ongoing care and coordinating neonatal transports in consultation with community pediatricians. She also cares for extremely premature infants, complex surgical patients and newborns with neurological conditions such as intraventricular hemorrhage, hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy and perinatal stroke. As a specialist in extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, or ECMO (life support for patients whose lungs and heart aren't working), she works with a team to support infants and children with cardiorespiratory failure.

Berrios earned her medical degree at the Universidad Central del Caribe School of Medicine. She completed a residency in pediatrics at Nassau University Medical Center, which is part of Stony Brook University and Northwell Health. She also completed a fellowship in neonatology at UCSF.
