Dr. Karen Sun is a specialist in coordinating and managing the care of hospitalized children. She is chief of the Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine and associate director of Integrated Pediatric Pain & Palliative Care, a multidisciplinary service focused on relieving symptoms and improving quality of life for hospitalized children with painful conditions or serious illnesses.

Sun earned her medical degree at the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and completed a residency in pediatrics at UCSF, serving as chief resident. She also has trained in medical acupuncture. Prior to joining UCSF, she was a pediatrician at Denver Health and Kaiser Permanente.
