Dr. Julie Stein O'Brien is a primary care pediatrician and medical director of the primary care clinics at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital. She sees children for health maintenance and sick visits.

O'Brien's research interests include preventive care, quality improvement and patient-doctor communication. She is also interested in the impact of health information technology on everyday practice in the clinic and serves as ambulatory clinical lead for the UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital APeX system, an electronic health record system that supports continuity of care to enhance patient safety.

O'Brien earned her medical degree and completed a residency in pediatrics at UCSF.
