Jonathan Li

MD

Ophthalmologist and myopia specialist

Dr. Jonathan Li is an ophthalmologist who provides comprehensive eye care to children and adults. A specialist in treating myopia (nearsightedness), he is particularly interested in helping nearsighted children control the condition and treating adults with extreme nearsightedness. He performs a variety of laser procedures and surgeries, including refractive surgery (vision correction) and complex cataract surgery.

Li's research focuses on using risk factors and imaging to identify nearsighted patients whose vision is likely to worsen or develop complications. His research also includes evaluating new treatments for myopia in children and validating international myopia research findings in North Americans to ensure the results are the same. His work has been published in major scientific journals, including Ophthalmology, the American Academy of Ophthalmology's widely read publication. He has spoken on his research at several international conferences.

Li earned his medical degree at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. He completed a residency in ophthalmology at UCSF. He is the first international ophthalmologist to complete a myopia fellowship at the Singapore National Eye Centre. (Singapore is one of the countries with the highest rates of nearsightedness in young people.)
