Dr. Eda Cengiz is a pediatric endocrinologist dedicated to caring for children and adolescents with hormone and metabolic conditions, including diabetes, growth disorders, thyroid disease and puberty concerns. She is also director of the UCSF Pediatric Diabetes Program. With a focus on innovation and personalized treatment, she uses the most advanced therapies and technologies available to help children achieve the best possible health outcomes.

Cengiz is a world-renowned scholar who has received numerous distinguished awards from premier academic institutions, including the Rosalind Franklin Society Special Award in Science, the Yale Center for Clinical Investigation Scholar Award, the Yale School of Medicine's Department of Pediatrics Mae Gailani, MD, Junior Faculty Teaching Award, the Brown University Warren Alpert Medical School Dean’s Excellence in Teaching Award and the UCSF Health Patient Experience Pinnacle Award. She has spearheaded diabetes-related clinical studies focusing on methods to improve how quickly insulin works in the body and ways to administer it, as well as other diabetes technologies. She is a member of the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development’s Initiative to Advance Pediatric Therapeutics diabetes core group, and served as an elected advisory board member for the International Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Diabetes. 

Cengiz has also developed new guidelines for diabetes management based on the latest research and has served as a keynote speaker at numerous scientific conferences, both national and international. She collaborates with pediatric diabetologists abroad and oversees multinational projects in diabetes research and management to promote the well-being of children with diabetes.

Cengiz earned her medical degree at Hacettepe Üniversitesi, in Ankara, Turkey. She completed a residency in pediatrics at Carolinas Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in pediatric endocrinology at Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.
