Pediatric infectious disease specialist

Dr. Brian Lee is a pediatric infectious disease specialist who cares for children with challenging, unusual or complicated infections. His particular interests include antimicrobial stewardship (improving patient care and preventing drug-resistant microorganisms through the appropriate use of antibiotics) and developing new methods of diagnostic testing. He strives to offer each of his patients compassionate, comprehensive care.

Lee earned his medical degree at UCSF. He completed a residency in pediatrics at Stanford University Medical School and a fellowship in pediatric infectious diseases at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland. Since joining the staff at Oakland, he has held leadership positions, including co-director of the infectious diseases division, director of the division's tuberculosis program and founding director of the program on antimicrobial stewardship.

Lee is an editor of the Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal and clinical sciences director at Roche Molecular Diagnostics. He has served on multiple advisory committees for the California Department of Public Health.

Lee is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society, Infectious Diseases Society of America and European Society for Paediatric Infectious Diseases. He is a Bay Area native.
