Ngoc Ly, MD, MPH

Chief of pediatric pulmonary medicine

Dr. Ngoc P. Ly is a specialist in pediatric pulmonology at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital. She specializes in the diagnosis and management of acute and chronic respiratory diseases in children, lung function testing, exercise testing and bronchoscopy. She has a special interest in the care of children with asthma and chronic lung diseases.

Ly directs the Pediatric Pulmonary Asthma Program, which provides comprehensive service for the diagnosis and treatment of asthma in children, with specific focus on severe asthma. The program consists of an asthma care team that includes a nurse practitioner and respiratory therapist certified in asthma education to facilitate asthma education and management for children.

Ly is an associate clinical professor of pediatrics at UCSF. She is the director of the Pediatric Pulmonary Fellowship Training Program. She completed her pediatric respiratory residency at the Medical College of Virginia. She went on to complete her pediatric pulmonary fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital for Children and research fellowship in respiratory and environmental epidemiology at the Channing Laboratory in Boston where she received her master's in public health at Harvard School of Public Health.
