Dr. Julie Stein O'Brien is medical director of the UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Pediatric Primary Care Clinic, where she works as a primary care pediatrician. She sees children for health maintenance and sick visits.

O'Brien's research interests include preventive care, quality improvement and patient-physician communication. She is also interested in the impact of health information technology on clinical practice and serves as ambulatory clinical lead for the Benioff Children's Hospital APeX system, an electronic health record system that increases continuity of care and hence enhances patient safety.

O'Brien earned her medical degree and completed a residency in pediatrics at UCSF. She is an assistant professor of pediatrics at UCSF.
