Dawn Gano, MD

Pediatric neurologist

Dr. Dawn Gano is a pediatric neurologist in the Neuro-Intensive Care Nursery and Neonatal Neurology Follow-Up Program at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital San Francisco. Gano specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of neurological disorders in newborns, as well as comprehensive follow-up throughout childhood.

Her research centers on promoting brain health in premature babies by identifying modifiable risk factors for brain injury and adverse neurodevelopmental outcomes.

Gano earned an undergraduate degree in microbiology and immunology from McGill University in Montreal, followed by a medical degree from McMaster University in Hamilton, Canada. She completed a residency in pediatric neurology at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver and a fellowship in neonatal neurology at UCSF.

Gano is a member of the Child Neurology Society and the Society for Pediatric Research.
