Amy Gelfand, MD

Pediatric neurologist and headache specialist

Dr. Amy Gelfand is a child neurologist at the UCSF Headache Center. She specializes in diagnosing and treating children who suffer from a variety of headache disorders, as well as children with childhood periodic syndromes such as abdominal migraine that may be prescursors to migraine headache later in life. Her research focuses on the epidemiology of pediatric migraine and childhood periodic syndromes.

Gelfand received her medical degree from Harvard Medical School. Subsequently, she completed a residency in pediatrics and residency in child neurology at UCSF. She is an assistant professor of neurology at UCSF.

She is the recipient of a teaching award from the UCSF Pediatrics Residents and writing awards from the Resident and Fellows Section of the medical journal, Neurology. Gelfand is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, Child Neurology Society and American Headache Society.
