UCSF Children's Hospital was the beneficiary of generous fans at the 49ers game on Nov. 14 at Monster Stadium. Niner fans sponsored a $10 light of hope on the Macy’s Annual Holiday Tree in Union Square. Before and during the game, doctors and nursed from UCSF Children's Hospital sold 1,250 lights.

Niners fans also had the chance to win a No. 42 jersey signed by Hall of Fame legend Ronnie Lott or wide receiver Brandon Lloyd's signed No. 85 jersey as part of the light selling event. The winners were announced on the Jumbotron during the third quarter of the game.

  • William Allen of Reno, Nev. won the Brandon Lloyd jersey
  • Del Morris of Santa Clara, Calif. won the Ronnie Lott jersey

The Macy's Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held in Union Square on Friday, Nov. 26 at 6 p.m. The tree will remain lit through Jan. 1. Fans and their families are invited to the free ceremony -- Macy's gift to San Francisco -- and to view the tree throughout the holiday season.

The opportunity to sponsor a light on the tree remains open until Dec. 24. Last year, friends of UCSF Children's Hospital donated almost $100,000 by sponsoring lights and strings of lights, with every penny dedicated to helping children and their families feel safe and comfortable when their child has a life-threatening condition.
