The UCSF Family Medicine Center at Lakeshore offers primary care for patients of all ages including infants, children, adults and seniors. In family medicine, all members of a family may receive medical care from the same doctor.
At Lakeshore, doctors provide a wide range of primary care services including, preventive medicine, care of ongoing chronic illnesses and treatment of acute or serious problems. Services at Lakeshore include dermatology, mental health and behavioral medicine.
When a patient needs more specialized care such as laboratory, X-ray or emergency services, the staff at Lakeshore refers patients to the appropriate specialist and department at UCSF Medical Center. Lakeshore doctors communicate and collaborate with specialists and hospital doctors to ensure that their patients receive the most complete care available.
Lakeshore doctors have made caring for pregnant women and children a special focus of their clinical practice. They provide prenatal care and offer post-delivery care for mothers and their infants in the hospital.
Our family medicine doctors, who care for pregnant women, work to create a partnership with patients to provide high-quality personalized care. Our group provides women with the information needed to make informed choices, creating a birth plan that emphasizes the special needs and desires of the individual.
All deliveries are performed at UCSF Medical Center. If doctors detect a high-risk pregnancy, Lakeshore doctors have immediate access to UCSF Medical Center's team of perinatologists and neonatologists. At Lakeshore, patients receive personalized care from family medicine doctors and access to the latest and most sophisticated medical technologies when necessary.
