Pediatric dietitian
Husband, father and cardiometabolic disease researcher
Luis A. Rodriguez is a pediatric dietitian who specializes in preventing and treating prediabetes, fatty liver and childhood obesity. In addition to patient care, Rodriguez conducts research focused on preventing and treating type 2 diabetes at the population level, particularly among marginalized and underserved racial or ethnic groups.
Rodriguez earned a bachelor's degree in nutritional sciences at the University of California, Berkeley, completed his dietetic internship at UCSF and earned a master of public health degree at UC Berkeley School of Public Health. He earned a doctorate in epidemiology at UCSF and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in delivery science and diabetes translational research at the Kaiser Permanente Northern California Division of Research. He joined UCSF in 2009.
