Pinar Karakas-Rothey


Pediatric radiologist
Lifelong student of the humanities, traveler and avid reader

Dr. Pinar Karakas-Rothey is a radiologist who specializes in fetal imaging, body and musculoskeletal imaging, and neuroimaging (imaging of the brain or other parts of the nervous system) for children. She directs the fetal and ultrasound imaging departments at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland.

Karakas-Rothey earned her medical degree at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in Ankara, Turkey. She completed a residency in diagnostic radiology at Ankara University and an additional diagnostic radiology residency at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center, where she also completed a fellowship in pediatric radiology.

In her free time, Karakas-Rothey enjoys learning about medicine and history, making things by hand and micro-farming. She loves spending time with animals and in nature.
