Hassan W. Hamandi

Dr. Hassan Hamandi is a gastroenterologist who cares for children and young adults with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

Hamandi's research endeavors include studies to evaluate therapies for children with IBD and initiatives related to raising quality of care. As part of the UCSF Pediatric IBD Program, he participates in the national initiative known as ImproveCareNow, which takes a collaborative approach to elevating the treatment and well-being of children with Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, the two main types of IBD.

Hamandi earned his medical degree at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. He completed a residency in pediatrics at Case Western Reserve University and a fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology at Johns Hopkins University. He belongs to the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation and North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition.
