Dr. Emily Stieren is a neonatologist who cares for premature and critically ill newborns.

Stieren's research focuses on white matter injury in newborns, a type of brain injury associated with preterm birth and oxygen deprivation in the weeks before and after birth.

Stieren earned her medical degree and a doctorate in neuroscience at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. She completed a residency in pediatrics and a fellowship in neonatology at UCSF.
