Dr. Jina Sinskey is an anesthesiologist who cares for children when they need sedation or general anesthesia for surgeries, nonsurgical procedures or imaging studies. She is also a member of UCSF's fetal anesthesia team.

In her research, Sinskey studies how using virtual reality and augmented reality headsets affects young patients’ anxiety during induction of general anesthesia (being put into a sleep-like state). Additional research interests include fetal anesthesia, the well-being of health care professionals, conflict management in the operating room and medical education.

After earning a bachelor's degree at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Sinskey earned her medical degree at Tufts University School of Medicine. She completed a residency in anesthesiology at UCSF and a fellowship in pediatric anesthesiology at Boston Children's Hospital.

Sinskey is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, International Anesthesia Research Society, California Society of Anesthesiologists and Society for Pediatric Anesthesia. She serves as vice chair of the American Society of Anesthesiologists committee on physician well-being.

In her free time, Sinskey enjoys hiking and stand-up paddleboarding with her two huskies.
