The Positive Health Practice (PHP) at UCSF Medical Center is hosting its first Autumn Gala Fundraiser from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10 at 111 Minna Gallery in San Francisco. Proceeds will help support the much needed services provided by the HIV and AIDS clinic in the face of decreasing public funding. It also celebrates the program's 20th year of service, accomplishments, partnerships and work in the community.

Tickets for the event are $40 per person. Please RSVP by calling (415) 353-2705 by Monday, Oct. 31. Tickets can be purchased before the event and at the door.

Prepaid tickets include a complimentary drink. Hors d’oeuvres will be provided by Olive Green Catering Co., operated by chefs formerly of Chez Panisse. The event also will include live music by Heklina and Oscar Fabulous, DJ music by KMEL radio and a silent auction. Auction items include a 10.5 carat estate eternity diamond ring, a one-week stay in Tahoe and top-rated wines from around the world.

Positive Health Practice at UCSF Medical Center is one of the nation's first nonprofit HIV clinics. The program cares for more than 700 people with HIV and AIDS and offers two specialty programs — the Men of Color Program and the Women's and Children's Specialty HIV Program.

As part of its 20th anniversary celebration, service awards will be given to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., for her efforts to obtain funding for HIV services. Dr. Robert Scott of Oakland also will receive an award for providing outstanding HIV care. Scott has provided HIV care in the Bay Area since the beginning of the epidemic and also travels to Africa to bring needed medications and expertise to clinics.
