Four Ways We Are Keeping Your Family Safe During COVID-19
Precautions in place at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals
-
Screening and Testing
We screen all patients coming to our children's hospitals for surgical procedures, emergencies or appointments for symptoms or risk of COVID-19 exposure, and test every inpatient for COVID-19, regardless of whether they show any symptoms. We also screen all employees and primary caregivers entering our hospitals and clinics for symptoms or risk of COVID-19 exposure. We enforce a strict stay-at-home policy for symptomatic primary caregivers and employees.
-
Surgical Masking and Physical Distancing
We require everyone to wear a surgical mask onsite, except patients under two years of age. We have implemented physical distancing throughout our facilities, including greatly decreasing time patients spend in common areas like waiting rooms.
-
Isolation of Patients and COVID-19 Units
We immediately isolate patients who are COVID-19 positive, symptomatic or have high level of risk of exposure to COVID-19. By isolating COVID-19 patients who need evaluation or hospitalization, we help protect everyone's health. Our multiple drive-through testing sites further limit onsite exposure to possible COVID-19 patients.
-
Infection Prevention
We rigorously sterilize and disinfect our hospitals and clinics, following Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) infection prevention guidelines. Rest assured that surgeries are performed in a sterile environment, and our teams are dedicated to your health and safety.
