Jeffrey Gossett, MD

Director of Heart Failure, Heart Transplantation and Mechanical Circulatory Support
Pediatric cardiologist

Dr. Jeffrey Gossett is a pediatric cardiologist who treats heart birth defects as well as heart conditions that develop in childhood. He specializes in treating patients who develop heart failure and require evaluation for heart transplantation. He also treats patients with cardiomyopathy and end stage congenital heart disease, or a heart abnormality that is present at birth.

Gossett's research focuses on improving heart transplant outcomes. He has investigated rejection after heart transplantation, when the body's immune system attacks the transplanted heart, and heart transplant complications in children born with one functioning ventricle in the heart.

Gossett received his medical degree from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. He completed a residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital followed by fellowships in pediatric cardiology and pediatric cardiac catheterization and cardiac intensive care at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.

Gossett is a member of the American Board of Pediatrics, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation, the Congenital Cardiovascular Interventional Study Consortium, and the International Pediatric Transplant Association. He is a professor of clinical pediatrics at the UCSF School of Medicine.
