NF1 Clinic

The NF1 Clinic is a one-stop medical home for children with neurofibromatosis type 1, or NF1. We provide individualized care by bringing together all of the subspecialists your child needs. Our focus is on patient and family education, developmental support, preventative care, coordinated same-day diagnostic testing and access to cutting-edge treatments.

You'll need a referral from your child's pediatrician or specialist to make an appointment. Once you have the referral, please call the number below.

Research and Clinical Trials

The First Visit

During your child's first visit, you and your child will meet with a team of experts, including a genetic counselor, medical geneticist and a medical genetics fellow. Our team will take the time to understand your child's current symptoms, past medical history and family history.

This will be followed by a thorough physical examination, in which we take a careful look at your child from head to toe. Finally, we will meet together to discuss and explain our thoughts and make recommendations for your child.

Testing or a referral to a specialist may be recommended to help with diagnosis or management.

Blood work and X-rays may be performed on the day of the visit if your insurance plan does not require prior authorization. Blood tests that we would recommend during your child's initial visit don't require fasting, so your child may eat and drink prior to the appointment.

Other tests and referrals to specialists will be scheduled on a different day.
