Anuradha Banerjee, MD

Pediatric neuro-oncologist

Dr. Anuradha Banerjee is a pediatrician with specialty training in pediatric hematology and oncology, in particular brain tumors. She is an epidemiologist, or a specialist who studies the cause and characteristics of disease, and is trained in pediatric palliative care, which is caring for children with terminal illness to minimize pain and suffering. She also works on clinical trials in the Pediatric Brain Tumor Consortium. Her research focuses on the role of molecular predictors of clinical behavior in childhood leukemia and pneumococcal vaccination in children undergoing chemotherapy.

Banerjee earned a medical degree and a master's degree in public health in epidemiology at Tulane University in New Orleans. After a residency in pediatrics at UCSF, she completed fellowship training in pediatric hematology and oncology and trained in pediatric palliative care at UCSF. She joined the neurosurgery department in the summer of 2001 to work with Dr. Michael D. Prados in the Pediatric Brain Tumor Consortium. Banerjee is an associate clinical professor of pediatrics and neurological surgery.
