Amy Hitchcock, RN

Nurse coordinator

Amy Hitchcock is an experienced pediatric oncology and hematology nurse who currently serves as nurse coordinator for the bone marrow transplant program. She supports patients and their families from the time of initial referral through post-discharge planning. She also coordinates consultations, lab tests and procedures for both patients and donors throughout the transplant process.

With her breadth of experience, Hitchcock provides valuable support to bedside nurses of patients receiving stem cell transplants. She coordinates continuing education for UCSF Hematology and Blood and Marrow Transplant nurses and maintains administrative procedures for inpatient and outpatient nursing care.

Prior to becoming a transplant coordinator, she cared for patients with a wide array of oncology, hematology and bone marrow disorders at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital. Before coming to UCSF, she was a bone marrow transplant nurse at Children's Hospital Los Angeles and worked at Progress Foundation, a nonprofit organization providing treatment and housing for people with mental disabilities.

Hitchcock earned her bachelor's degree in nursing at the University of San Francisco. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, taking her dog to the beach and baking pies.
